Early-Mid May Fishing Report:
Despite behind-schedule weed growth, the multi-species bite remains consistent. Walleye, crappie, and perch are holding on early new green weeds, with jigging and slip-bobbering proving highly effective.

Early-Mid May: We had a normal ice-out in late April this year, but our weather has been just the opposite. The multi-species bite has been consistent, but the weed growth is behind schedule.
Where to Find Them:
Walleye, Crappie, & perch are using mainly the first new green weeds coming up. The crappie still need to spawn, so they will be cruising spawning grounds adjacent to these new weed growths.
What's Working:
Jigging: Casting out and jigging on the bottom back to the boat with weedless Jack’s Jigs ($1/16$–$1/8\text{ oz}$) teamed up with a medium fathead minnow has been our bread & butter so far.
Slip Bobbering: We have also been slip bobbering $1/16\text{ oz}$ jigs with crappie-sized minnows right in the weeds.

Fishing Reports
As water temperatures climb into the upper 70s, the multi-species bite transitions to early morning and late afternoon. Fish are scattered between weed edges and mud flats during the summer bug hatches.

Past Trips
a few miscellaneous pictures of fall musky from 2025. I love fall musky! Cooler water temps, less boat traffic, and using live bait for musk

Fishing Reports
Water temps have delayed the smallmouth spawn on deeper clear lakes, while walleye and perch remain buried in newly accelerated weed growth. Keep an eye out for pike and musky mixed in!
