There is something deeply healing about being out on the water. The early morning fog lifting off a quiet Northwoods lake, the steady rhythm of casting, and the shared anticipation of that next big strike have a way of bringing total peace. For veterans returning home from combat, that peace isn’t just welcome—it’s necessary.
As a U.S. Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient myself, I know firsthand the challenges of transitioning back to civilian life and dealing with the physical and mental weight of service. I also know that the outdoors was my sanctuary. Getting back into a boat gave me purpose, focus, and a way to heal.
That is exactly why Hendo’s Angling is incredibly proud to partner with and support the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation (WWIA).

May–Mid June Fishing Report: Walleyes in the Weeds & Smallmouth Transitions
Water temps have delayed the smallmouth spawn on deeper clear lakes, while walleye and perch remain buried in newly accelerated weed growth. Keep an eye out for pike and musky mixed in!
